Fastnet Race
The yacht has been entered into two off shore RORC Races, in order to qualify for the Fastnet Race.
These are the ‘Cervantes Trophy Race’ commencing on Saturday 30th April over the Bank Holiday weekend and is a race of some 95 to 140 miles from Cowes to Le Havre.
The ‘Myth of Malham Race’ starts on Friday 27th May over the Bank Holiday weekend being a race of some 230 miles
from Cowes round the Eddystone Light returning to Cowes, a distance of some 230 miles.
The ‘Rolex Fastnet Race’ commences on Sunday 14thAugust and is some 608 miles from Cowes around the Fastnet Rock off southern Ireland finishing at Plymouth.
The regular crew have been undertaking a number of training courses – RYA First Aid, RYA Sea Safety, RYA Radio course, RYA Sea Survival plus our own in house training – night sailing with a number of pre-planned problems– no lights – changing the sails in the dark – putting up and bringing down the kyte in the dark – so it’s all done by feel!!! plus the crew changing roles. Combined with weekend local race sailing competitions and events in order to bring the crew together in a competitive situation so that we work together as a team
